A International Organization for Standardization (ISO) anunciou que começou a desenvolver a ISO 21500, um novo padrão internacional em gerencimento de projetos. O trabalho iniciou em Londres com 50 delegados de 14 países. As fases iniciais do trabalho, que é baseado na British Standard BS-6079, devem estar prontas em 2010. Os três grupos de trabalho envolvidos no desenvolvimento do padrão vão endereçar terminologia, processos e guia informativo.
Sendo desenvolvida sobre padrões já existentes, a ISO 21500 deve fornecer orientação genérica, explicando as principais práticas e princípios do gerenciamento de projetos. O padrão vai ser aplicável a organizações de todos os tamanhos e de todos os setores da indústria, e pode ser útil tanto para novos gerentes de projetos quanto para gerentes de projetos experientes.

Vinte países estão envolvidos no desenvolvimento da ISO 21500, com outras três nações adicionais designadas como observadoras.

International Standard on Project Management (ISO 21500)

As many people are aware there is a new international standard for project management being produced through ISO. It was originally due to be available in 2011 but has now been delayed until 2012. Australia is playing an active role in the development and have been involved from the initial meeting in London some years ago. Basically there are three workgroups and in each country that is participating, mirror groups to provide input. Project Perfect is represented in Australia with Neville Turbit convenor of one of those working groups. For those who are interested in progress, a communique was issued in January to outline progress, and in particular the work being carried out in Australia. click here to read the communique.

We will try and keep you up to date with progress through this blog. It is a slow painful process of working through drafts and taking on board the comments of 30+ countries who are currently participating. ISO have a process which we are following and we are still to get to the point of having a publically available draft.
